Roxi and Rosa
Meet Roxi and Rosa. We collected Roxi from Saltcoats. She was a tiny pup. The best thing we did was to apply for and adopt her. Rosa was a Spanish rescue. She was so thin when we got her but a really loving dog. Both as daft as anything, magic with our kids and cats. We just wouldn't be without them. Thanks to all at SPRS for making this happen.

Blu
Best thing we ever did was adopt the gorgeous Blu. Gina advised we take 24 hours to think about it after meeting him, we didn’t even last 24 minutes, we both fell in love. He is the most loving happiest dog ever, everyone he meets loves him and he brings so much joy to our life.

Nala
Nala was a Romanian street dog. When she arrived she was very thin and not in great condition. She was to be a short term foster, but she was such a great natured dog; very loving, well behaved and loved getting attention so we just had to adopt her. She was only with us for 3 1/2 years before she passed away, but she brought such joy and happiness to the family. Thanks to SPRS for making this happen.

Simba
I will be forever grateful to SPRS for rescuing and bringing Samba into our lives! Putting it mildly Samba was not having the best time in kennels in Wales. Not eating, drinking, soaked in his own mess and therefore became defensive. Along came SPRS and his foster mummy - Lorraine who drove from Scotland to Wales to save him before he was euthanised .She did an amazing job with him and when we met him we found him healthy, very happy, and just totally gorgeous!
We obviously said yes to adopting him straight away. 4 months later we cannot imagine life without Samba - he settled in like a dream and makes us smile and laugh every single day.
The ladies (Gina, Yvonne and Lauralei) that run SPRS are obviously very passionate about saving and helping Shar Pei that need help, care, love and homes. They work extremely hard to try and raise funds for these pups to get the vet treatments that are desperately needed and find foster homes and adopters.
They are just heroes without capes in my eyes. I wish them lots of luck in everything they do for these special Shar Pei pups xx

Poppy and Noah
Beautiful Poppy we rescued when she was 5 and now she is 14. She is a Sharpei cross and has had no health problems. She is a wonderful companion with a big character. She bossed her poor brother Noah around.
Beautiful Noah came to us over one Christmas for two weeks foster. Needless to say he got his paws firmly under the table. So we adopted our amazing boy who we had four and a half years. He passed away peacefully at age 11 and a half.
Thankyou to Gina; Lauralei ; Yvonne and all the other rescue members over the years who helped us Isobel McKenna and Elaine J Stewart who were also great.

Dulcie
This photo was taken of Dulcie last month on her 12th birthday. I adopted her from SPRS just over 6 years ago and she has always been the sweetest girl. Although she got on with my other dog, a labrador, from the start, she wasn't sure what to make of the cat! Eventually they became buddies and it was lovely walking the 3 of them together!
Thank you to Gina for entrusting me with her and also for everything that she, Lauralei and Yvonne do for these dogs. Above and beyond puts it mildly. Adopting or fostering a rescue dog is so worthwhile, some will need more time to adjust and trust than others but all of them will pay you back with unlimited love.

Bugzie
Bugzi arrived just before lock down, he came from hungry as a pup, I was really worried about how it would work with my 4 year old Shar pei as he had always been an only dog. Don’t know why I was worried they got on really well, Bugzi is 4.5 now, he is such a sweet dog, my wee shadow.

Poppy and Ziggi
When we contacted SPRS..we wanted two girls... they however were not available at that moment... Gina put us in touch with a sister charity that rescues Sharpeis and other dogs in Spain.... Upshot...we got a traditional Sharpei mum and her Sharpei cross baby daughter...They have settled in as though always been here...although the puppy is very nervous of anything or anyone one ... We wouldn't be without them, and will do everything in our power to help this amazing rescue service....Once a Sharpei owner..always a Sharpei owner...Our girls are called Poppy and Ziggy.

Skye
7 years this month I had Skye from the rescue. Unfortunately at 12 year old also had to make the devastating call this week to stop her suffering.
Thanks to Jason Girdwood for sharing the beautiful image of Skye. I am sure she brought you years of happiness. Sleep well Skye.
